LinnReminder that people who claim trans people are mentally ill so they can misgender them are transphobes, but also ableists. This attitude is the gender equivalent of screaming repeatedly as a "joke" next to someone sensitive to loud noises, adding a flavor or ingredient to something against someone's request, or getting too close to someone who asks you to keep a distance for sensory or trauma reasons. P.S. if this gains traction, I don't mean these things done unintentionally. I mean the people who do these things over and over in an attempt to desensitise someone against their will, or to impress their equally terrible friends, or ragebait, or anything like this. Also, to be completely clear, being trans is not a mental illness, but someone who uses "mental illness" as an insult is, without a doubt, ableist.
