Israel used 2,000+ bombs in the first 30 hours of the Iran war; the US struck 1,000+ targets in the first 24 hours. Iran responded with at least 390 missiles and 830 drones in the first two days. Bellingcat has tracked the munitions used by all sides so far: https://www.bellingcat.com/news/2026/03/03/bombs-will-fall-everywhere-the-american-israeli-and-iranian-weapons-being-deployed-in-middle-east/?utm_source=mstdn

@Bellingcat I know it's kind of shunted aside whilst people are being bombed and buried in debris but has anyone calculated how many tonnes of CO2 is released by a missile and its explosive? Or a bomb and the plane that delivered it? And the aircraft carrier that delivered the plane. Not to mention the oil and gas facilities in flames in the middle east and Russia/Ukraine.
@Bellingcat And when it's all over they are going to need millions of tonnes of steel and concrete, and thousands of earth movers, diggers and cranes to rebuild —adding more CO2. Homo Stupidus strikes again.
