If anyone's wondering *why* so many clinicians are still practicing like it's 2019, the answer involves some major systems-level issues with the way information flows (and does not flow) between science and clinical practice. Misinformation isn't just a thing that happens to uneducated people.

The recent scandal around the made-up case reports in Pediatrics & Child Health is not just about a specialist journal dropping the ball. It reflects the accelerating erosion of the boundary between real medical science and "just so stories" that merely launder the opinions of senior practitioners.
