I have made it a point to repost every profile I see with a link to the Gaza Verified website, but lately I have been getting lots of follows from people with a link to the website but no green checkmark. Should I be sceptical about those accounts? I don't actually know how any of this verification business works on Mastodon.

Yes, there should be green check mark and, if you click on the link, it should take you to a page on Gaza Verified that matches their profile and you should see the green check mark there too.

@aral My question is. Is there a possibility that the Mastodon verification process is too onerous for people living in Gaza so that some people who have actually been verified are not actually getting a green check on their Mastodon profile?
