That's an ignorant attitude.
@tehrealgh5tbusters "Oh you'd like to? Okay." *monkey's paw curls*
@tehrealgh5tbusters
Me: *Buys new computer*
Computer: Verify your age now.
Me: How? I don't have internet.
Computer: *Explodes*
@meluzzy @tehrealgh5tbusters if they want to add age verification beyond “are you 18+ y/n” on the firmware level theyd need to bloat said firmware by a lot. im talking networking features probably tons more cryptographic shit and everything that drags along; would be a pain in the ass and make computers worse for everyone involved lol
@tehrealgh5tbusters I think they're daring them to try. Do they not know how far states will go for control?
@tehrealgh5tbusters how is using a spineful linux distro not a workaround to this
@tehrealgh5tbusters they cant magically hijack all existing and future foreign hardware either
@tehrealgh5tbusters note that i’m not saying a workaround is all we need, definitely fight the fascist legislation every step of the way
@zaire Stupid of me to have overly paranoid concerns, I guess...
Likely because to implement does not require advanced age verification checks, only a basic age selection check to comply with the law
@tehrealgh5tbusters if i'm thinking of the right law, it is not age verification. it is age self-reporting.
