While reading chapter seven it really had me think about what the thoughts and attitudes around news and media would be if the Fairness Doctrine was still in place. Would political sides not be as polarized as they are today? Or was that inevitable given current issues and/or specific people in power? #so315
@smb44 I think it's something to think about. I think it could have changed the direction or how things looked, but I think the underlying conditions of specific people in power and polarization has always existed in some format. #so315
@smb44 it could definitely be either way. With the policies with the fairness doctrine, it definitely could have dwindled or even eliminate polarization. However, as society likes to be, people flock to to their side and think anything but their side is wrong. So even with the fairness doctrine it is still very possible to see two or more clear cut sides on “politics” or anything else really.
