I want to start an online anarchist research university. Fuck signalling and degrees and publication count, I want to host a place where people come to collaborate on building knowledge and to learn and teach things. Not so you can "improve your resume" or "get a job" or create connections to help get you hired or any capitalist bullshit. Just specifically because you either want to know something, or you do know something and want to share it with others.

And I want to build it starting now.

When i was young in the uk, we had the Open University on tv. It was free, and came on at times when there were no other programmes being broadcast. It was full of monochrome presenters in somehow too colouful jumpers talking earnestly about maths, physics, history art etc. I loved it, and have retained an interest in many of the things I encountered. I don't yet know what my next special interest will be, and having to selectively register for knowledge kills that serendipity

I went through the Open University system and it opened my eyes to so many things that I'd never considered, but it was enshitified by government and is now a shadow of it's former self.

What the OP seems to be describing was the original purpose of the Workers Education Association, which is still strong in some areas, but doesn't offer the range of opportunities it did 30 years ago
