Something that stood out to me in Chapter 8 of the book is how the authors illustrate that stigma doesn’t just affect how others see someone labeled as deviant but actually can reshape that person’s identity and future behavior through internalizing the label their given. #so345
@bunnyfam24 I also noticed that stigma doesn’t just change how other people treat someone, but it can really get inside their head. Like you said, when a person keeps getting called “deviant,” they might start to believe that’s all they can be, even if it’s not true. It’s kind of unfair because one label can limit their chances and make it harder for them to see themselves in a better way. #so345
@bunnyfam24 I also found this interesting and had never really thought of it before. Labels can be internalized and truly become part of people's identities. It made me think about how labels aren't really helpful to society
