This is what it really comes down to.

Masks are a reminder the pandemic isn’t over.

🔹COVID is airborne
🔹Each infection carries cumulative risk
🔹Long COVID has no cure
🔹The pandemic isn’t over
🔹Wearing a mask is still one of the best ways to protect yourself and others

@DenisCOVIDinfoguy I got into a fight with a friend, who is a nurse, because she stopped masking up at work & off work.
We are no longer talking.
@DenisCOVIDinfoguy The pandemic is over because the world failed in trying to contain it. COVID-19 is an endemic virus now and calling it a pandemic only obscures the fact that it will now *never* go away again.
To be clear: I'm not saying that we should do less as a society. I'm saying that we should do more because this is now a forever danger that we're not mitigating enough right now.

#WearADamnMaskChickenshit This applies to everyone who thinks like her.
I'm feeling militant after more than 5 years wearing a mask whenever I leave home.
@Tooden @DenisCOVIDinfoguy I live with people who don't mask. I often mask even at home as a result.
@Shanmonster Covid certainly has shown us that some family members just don't care about our health. @DenisCOVIDinfoguy
@DenisCOVIDinfoguy My boss is retiring next month. She doesn't like to admit that it's because she can feel herself slipping, forgetting more things, losing the details. She also has this persistent cough that hasn't left her for months... I tried gently dropping the Long Covid/brain fog hint today, but she didn't bite.
@DenisCOVIDinfoguy If it's pandemic or endemic is not that important. Malaria is endemic, and it doesn't change the fact that it's very dangerous. The same is true with Covid.
