my TV stopped working with my PC at 4k 120hz and in my attempt to fix it by toggling settings in the normal fucking windows settings and nvidia app, windows 11 decided Black Screen With Free Mouse Cursor would be perfect instead. so fuck this shit i need to at least try dualbooting linux
fortunately i already made an effort to move & delete huge amounts of stuff off of my main 2tb ssd so i can just cut it in half and put bazzite there it’s the best chance i got why the hell not
i did use a system restore on a winstallation media usb to make windows 11 not fucking shit itself but i’ve been slowly working at my computer pretty much all day fixing up my drives (my C drive refused to be shrunk & repartitioned properly so i backed it all up 100% and used Resize-C instead)
an unfortunate loss in this battle seems to be the secondary ssd i was using solely to store games. its formatted to NTFS which isn’t the best for linux (bazzite even told me) so i’ll have to fully reformat that baby after taking a couple save games over
@[email protected] are you going to have your OSes on 2 different ssds?
my OSes will both boot off the same SSD but my games will be on one SSD (hopefully on one partition? not sure if easily possible)
@[email protected] iirc you may want to be careful doing that? i have heard stories that windows sometimes doesnt play nice with other OSes on the same drive. i havent personally experienced it (and maybe someone more knowledgeable who sees this post can correct me) but i wouldnt put it past windows to screw up a linux install on the save drive, thats why i keep them separated on my main machine. food for thought i suppose.
