You know what? Mastodon and Bluesky are giving me the same no-good shitty feelings that Twitter did way back. I've removed the apps from my phone, sometimes remember to check on my laptop, and don't feel like I'm missing much besides a bunch of existential hang-writing into the sky.
Social media is still social media, and social media is still toxic. 🤷‍♂️
@ruralocity From things people say or the feeling/need to check it? Curious where the feeling stems.

@webology a bit of both. 10 years ago I replaced Twitter's place on my home screen with a meditation app (it's still there today), so there's a pyschological/me problem thing there.

But the signal to noise for me is also low. Way too many reposted unfunny, unoriginal takes on politics, AI, etc. from people I otherwise think or have thought highly of. 😕

I'm going to try to do some cleanup here, but will probably go write-only on Bsky.

@ruralocity I totally get those feels.

I vibed my own Mastodon/Bluesky filter app a few months ago. It basically syncs the filters between both services and runs every night.

Happy to gist or share sometime if that takes the edge off, but I don't think it's a tech problem you are running into.

I'm struggling with the general detachment and narrow-minded opinions shared here, which don't reflect the majority of devs, and that's concerning.

@webology "general detachment and narrow-minded opinions" ... that's it, precisely.
@ruralocity I see what you mean. I was busy for like a week and din't check masto often, when I came back and scrolled through the feed I didn't feel well. After updating my filters it's much better now. Still some things slip through once in a while but I guess it's inevitable. After all stuff happens in the real world and given the nature of the stuff… well, what else can you expect in the feed, right?
