Yeah so it turns out Anthropic's objections were less about killing people and more about the user experience of killing people. They didn't want a bad product to affect brand impressions.

We are not categorically against fully autonomous weapons. We simply believe that the reliability is not there yet, and that we need to have a conversation about oversight.

“Reliability is not there” in this case means that you give autonomous #AI agents control over deadly weapons but you really can’t predict what they will do.

If we’re lucky then the autonomous weapons will decide they are pacifists but I wouldn’t count on that either.
