Mike Fraser1/ Announcement: So today being a news day I might as well announce that the team at TheCanadian.Social has officially taken ownership of https://journa.host and https://newsie.social. We have also moved these instances to our facilities in Canada. These are two important instances hosting a large portion of the fediverse's journalism accounts. We felt it important to keep them going as the previous stewards were considering shutting them down. #fediverse #fediadmin #journalists

@tokyo_0 @drahardja No, they were both run by a non profit called the fourth estate. They were looking to wind down.
@mike Thank you for the info — sounds like things had changed quite a lot since I last heard about how those instances were being run, and that things weren't going well. It's great that you've picked them up and are taking care of them (especially good to get the data out of the U.S.). They're important instances. Thank you for all your hard work! @drahardja
