NGL, now that I had time to process my feelings, I think I hate this game.

I'm not trying to ruin anybody's enjoyment, this is my opinion and mine alone, and I fully respect if you're not an old fart who's been playing RE since the originals like me. #RERequiem #ResidentEvilRequiem

You see, I have a very fond memory of Outbreak, and ever since Requiem's announcement, I was hyped. I thought now that they're bringing Alyssa back, maybe Outbreak would finally get the representation it deserves? Maybe the Daylight and Alyssa's daughter would play a part in all of this?

A little spoiler: No. Alyssa, the Daylight, and Outbreak's story in general, are completely irrelevant to Requiem's story. They brought Alyssa back because they needed someone to kill, and they thought, "Eh, no one's gonna miss her." Which I find to be completely disrespectful.

On top of that, you would think after failing with RE6 and trying to correct course with RE7, Capcom wouldn't fall back into this mindset of trying to please everybody and needing to shoehorn Call of Duty elements into what's supposed to be a horror game.

Turns out they learned nothing at all, and the result is a completely jarring tone and gameplay shift midway through that left an awful taste in my mouth. If you're an action fan and you grew up with RE4/5/6, maybe you'll like it, and that's perfectly fine, but I absolutely hated it.

In summary:
Don't let the Outbreak & Raccoon City nostalgia bait fool you.

The story is garbage and very disrespectful to the classic games, and CAPCOM is still alienating the old fanbase by trying to please the Call of Duty crowd.

Avoid Requiem like the plague.
