slow burn dialog heavy Lovecraftian cosmic horror police procedural hard sci-fi doesn't sound like 2000AD's usual fare, but it's the kind of genius storytelling that Dan Abnett is a master at, and INJ Culbard's art is stunning.
I love this comic in case you can't tell
finished my reread of Brink, Book One. amazing, amazing comics. Dan Abnett is an incredible writer, and the worldbuilding here is some of his best. no big chunks of exposition, it's all dialog, and INJ Culbard's art is gorgeous. perfection
Kurtis and her partner, Brinkmann, are Habitat Security Division officers investigating sect crime on giant orbital space stations following the evacuation of Earth
it's cheap on Amazon, too. definitely give this book a chance I promise you won't regret it
Brink, Book Two, finished! one of my favorites from the series
Kurtis investigates reports of unusual activity aboard a half built space station, rumours of "ghosts" and unexplained deaths amongst the construction crews
Brink, Book Three, finished! this ones a trip
Kurtis is sent undercover in Junot Corp HQ as Davia Sinta, a "sweeper" looking for bugging devices. her real mission is classified...
some incredible art, especially the last section when everything goes to shit
my day of doing nothing except reading comics ends with Brink, Book Four, finished! more police procedural cosmic horror, this volume is a slow burn and so atmospheric. Dan Abnett's script is exceptional
sidelined by the HSD and sent back home to a desk job, Kurtis investigates a gangland massacre on Salma Habitat
spent all morning reading Brink, Book Five! reading them all one after the other really makes you realise just how well written this series is. SO many layers, and they all start to tie together and reveal themselves here
set concurrently during the events of the first volume, this one follows investigative reporter Nolan Maslow as he pursues a story that just keeps getting bigger, and bigger. this is dense storytelling, like reading a novel in places
mindbending stuff!
no, *you* spent all weekend sitting on your arse reading comics 😇 Brink, Book Six, finished!
this is the latest collected volume released a couple of weeks ago, and I've not read it since it was serialised in the weekly progs last year
Kurtis and the Special Task Force make a scheduled stopover at Belleholme Hab for 10 days R&R and get dragged into a murder investigation
