I use repairable / upgradable products (MNT laptop, Fairphone cellphones) and I have stocked up on a few critical spare parts, just in case the manufacturers goes under.
Other than that, what I have going for me is that I’m a Unix old-timer desperately hooked on the command line. So I use Linux, an ultra-lightweight window manager and zero graphical fluff. And I prefer old games 🙂 So my memory needs are rather limited.
Linux has been amazing. I switched from the windows 10 to mint (for now) and have been amazed at the difference in resource usage. Everything runs so much better than the nightmare windows experience. I’m still used to a gui but have been getting more and more into the command line side on Linux, it’s easier to me than constant menu clicking.
Point being that switching to Linux has definitely made me a lot less anxious about obtaining hardware with being able to have so much control over my system now. Same here on the gaming, I don’t care for triple a games. Too may resources used and hardly ever enough story or actual content
