Why is "femur" THE go to non-skull bone? Like any writer anywhere is thinking about a bone name to mention in their story and almost everyone goes, uhhhh idk, femur? Why do we just not know any other bone names?
@ArcanePigeon the scapula is my favourite, though admittedly probably mostly because a lot of my musculoskeletal issues occur around it
@OctaviaConAmore Every human knows a small subset of bones:
Skull
(Any bone they have broken or had other issues with)
Femur
That is all.
@ArcanePigeon they tend to sound more like 'technical' language.. more 'medical'... "Fibula", "scapula".. not words that appear naturally in conversation
@ArcanePigeon “Oh my god… it’s a human ulna!”
@ArcanePigeon I think it's just memetics, it's the one people know so it's the one people use so it's the one people know but I think also it got that place by being the most "bone-looking" bone? The one that looks most like a cartoon?
@ArcanePigeon I guess it's just kind of a convenient, large, properly dog bone-looking bone. It just kind of has these "oh, this is a human bone" type of vibes matched only by the skull
