Missed the delivery window for my computer yesterday and the delivery window is now Monday afternoon, so basically I get a few hours at the end of my weekend.

Trying not to be crabby about the entire universe at the moment.

Oh thank goodness. Now I have given my signature in exchange for a box that almost certainly contains a computer.

plug things in, power on, watch Windows doing its update thing, remembering the Debloat link that I still have a tab pointing to on the laptop

Linux will probably be tomorrow, after I figure out where the extra SSDs go. I found the motherboard connectors, but the tower's not my old school "drive bays go here" full tower.

Holy crap there's a lot of upsell in a new Windows install. No wonder people be hating.

Look. I just need to get far enough to install Balena Etcher or whatever.

Whole lotta passkey nonsense too, which so far I haven't been able to make work when I try.
Right there we go. Vivaldi and Zen now available as browsing (and tooting) options. Starting to feel comfortable.
Windows 10 Pro activation key still works to take machine from Win 11 Home -> Pro. That's approximately 50% less crap than we started with. Let's see if I can cope long enough to apply updates and debloat.
@randomgeek wondering why deal with windows when Linux is right there. What software is worth going through the hassle?

@toolsontech Came with the machine, and holding onto that installation just in case I need it.

I've spent most of today logged into and fiddling with the Linux install, have no fear.

@randomgeek I installed 11 on a VM somewhat recently and oof.

No way it could be a daily driver for me.

@mcgrew yeah I thought I could wait until tomorrow morning, but I'm already sufficiently irritated that I'm grabbing an EndeavourOS image. Hope one of my USB keys still works.
