sometimes I feel like trying to make friends in japanese, to actually get experience practicing.

even though I often hear about people disliking foreigners trying to speak it.

but also I wish I wasn't awkward and shy and also had anything interesting to talk about.

maybe if I talked with other art people that'd at least be common ground. but I don't foresee anybody being interested.

do people even still do pen pals these days? even online ones?

@raym not that its quite the same but have you though about leaving comments under works by Japanese artists in Japanese? based on auto translation a lot of JP artists do respond back with more than just, an emoji or a like. even if its not particularly deep discussion.

this is a bit more tangential but one Japanese artist I follow does lament his specific brand of interests/fetishes largely appeals to Westerners but he does not speak very good english.

@oct2pus I really should leave comments in general, I just always get the feeling I'll be a bother in some way. hmm.

it all comes to down to my own cowardice, I guess lol. I appreciate the suggestion, I'll definitely take it into consideration. ✌️

@raym I think a lot of people think this. i have decided to be a bother more because "not being a bother" is a losing sum game if we all do it (and we all do).

that also being said I am bad at bugging people without a reason ahead of time so...
