It’s not new. It’s from the 2008 animated Clone Wars TV show 2005 video game Republic Commando. And it refers to a physical characteristic of battle droids LLMs don’t have.

I feel like I heard it OUTSIDE of Star Wars though, I’d be surprised if Star wars itself came up with the term.
