Barack Obama reached a 2015 Iran nuclear deal. The deal required the most intrusive inspection regime ever negotiated, allowing 24/7 access to sites.

Trump ripped up that deal in 2018.

Today, we're at war with Iran to prevent it from getting nuclear weapons.

Trump voters did this to the United States--both in 2016 and 2024.

@ruurd @bartt Listen, I'm not a supporter of Trump or this action, but laws do permit the president to launch actions like this, provided he consults Congress and the troops are withdrawn within 60 to 90 days should Congress not approve.

God only knows if that happens, but your reply is factually incorrect.

@augieray @bartt I don't give a flying f**k as long as your government is headed by an asshole that sees fit to bomb any country he has a beef with. So instead of legalities make sure to at least call this what it is: a crime. Yet another hideous disregard for ordinary people that probably will die as consequence of the murderous actions of your idiot leader.

@ruurd @bartt I have no idea what that means, but Trump has the right to commit troops to military actions without congressional approval--for a limited period.

The way Trump ignores laws he doesn't like is infuriating, and I suspect we're going to a spate of new laws limiting the President's autonomy--once Trump is gone and the GOP is no longer in control.
