Whoa I was just thinking back to when 32 bit CPU arrived for the desktop back in the 80’s. That was HUGE!
Now we are getting close to 32 cores becoming a desktop option! The computing power we have in modern desktops is insane.
Will need to be paired with quad channel RAM (I kid) which will cost 6k by then so not sure if that still is “desktop” and “we have”.
Quad channel RAM will have to become standard at some point. And the RAM isn’t more expensive just because the CPU has more cores.
If you build an 8 core system, the RAM will be just as expensive. The high RAM prices hit everything.
I only wrote we are getting close, to me it’s close if it comes within a couple of years. Remember this was compared to the 80’s, which was about 40 years ago.
