One of the most subtle but pervasive forms of enshittification we see in products these days is the mobile-first approach.

Given the ubiquity of the mobile phone, targeting mobile users is both natural and sensible. However, all too often 'mobile first' means, in practice, 'mobile only', 'we've spared no effort on the mobile side and put no effort on the web side' or 'we just lifted and dropped the mobile approach onto our web UI'.

@kevlin The one that infuriates me the most when it comes to "mobile only" is EV chargers. It's a stark difference between how we used to do things with gas stations: bright lights right next to the highway with a physical store to upsell you on some more stuff. EV chargers are hidden in alleyways, no card terminal, no store, all in an attempt to squeeze as much as possible out of a captive audience. Luckily it's now regulated, but I think ultimately gas stations with chargers will win.
