Takeaways from Steam Next Fest : February '26 from a player perspective

https://jlai.lu/post/33835364

Really awesome post and mirrors a lot of my insights. My company has a demo out for the Fest and I’ve been looking at what other games are doing, and our number of downloads and comments and all that. It’s really a great festival this time though! Glad you have a nice list of great new games.

The Eternal Life of Goldman is the only one I’ve played so far and I uninstalled it cause I knew it was a buy for me.

Beautiful hand-drawn art with a bit of Cuphead animation style but not rubber hose. Gameplay like Donkey Kong Country with metroidvania elements.

The Magus Circle seems like a fantastic concept.

Also I wonder how long it takes for someone to come up with a mod for it that forces/lets your practice kanji lol

Great write up, thanks for sharing!

Wild Blue Skies looks like the sequel to Star Fox 64 that people have been waiting >20 years for

There’s a few Fox-likes (Well, on rails shooter but I like Fox-like more) out there, Wild Blue is just one of the two that feels truest to form

store.steampowered.com/app/1249480/ExZodiac/ is the other.

store.steampowered.com/…/FUR_Squadron_Phoenix/ Adds more customizability

…steampowered.com/…/Whisker_Squadron_Survivor/ Roguelike, with a campaign.

store.steampowered.com/app/…/Death_In_Abyss/ ever wish Star Fox also had horror elements

Save 50% on Ex-Zodiac on Steam

Been following deep snow delivery since the original game released on itch, glad to see their demo was good too!
Yeaah, who the heck wants to download a 20GB+ demo that gives you a 15 minute slice of a game? I’ll give a bunch of 1GB demos a shot first.
Very excited for Esoteric Ebb, watched bits and pieces of a friend playing it and it looked great, combined with glowing praise from that friend
On the various gaming communities in lemmy, I’m seeing an increasing number of quality posts like this one. This gives me hope for the future of lemmy, thanks a lot guys!
Thank YOU for the kind words!
I stopped paying attention to next fest since I have way too many games to play anyway but whisk looks really fun and it’s COOP?? Straight into the wishlist it goes.

I am hugely excited for Titanium Court.
The music and gameplay loop was great.

2nd is Forbidden Solitaire
3rd is Everything is Crab

I could not get into Darwin’s Paradox or Reanimal which were heavily marketed.

I played a shocking amount of demos this nextfest and had a pretty great time.

I was getting curious of the Titanium Court gameplay, and then the music hit me, I stopped and went to wishlist it lol

I forgot that I had it running and was just jamming. Then I also forgot it was a demo and the game literally has a timid character come up to you and tell you that you overstayed your welcome but they won’t tell you to leave… Then the UI says it doesnt have the same concerns and boots you from the game.

Just a whole lot of fun!
