PEterEI'm assuming that Likud thinks this is their last chance. It's far enough from midterms to have passed as a major factor there, 2027 brings impeachment proceedings and government shutdowns.
Israel has burnt enough goodwill that after the 2028 election, neither party will be giving unconditional support to them. So now is their best chance.
