A very good use of Gorton.
@mwichary reminded me of the sign I saw at the Cambridge Makerspace
@andrew_shadura @mwichary that’s the Robos and Dinos logo (a Sydney makerspace!).
@mwichary this is the exact model of bandsaw i killed last month, the electric motor decided to give up on living halfway through a lightweight cut

@mwichary Is it weird that I kinda want my tombstone to be inscribed in Gorton?

For whatever that typeface lacks in enthusiasm, you can count on Gorton to tell it like it is.

@mwichary BTW, for a moment I thought it's another toot about Gorton, UK – but before the photos loaded I noticed whose toot it was and decided "naaah, must be about the font".

"I like old tools and found the plaque on this 40yr old 8ft tall bandsaw rather humorous."

The plaque says the machine was received at 9AM on August 25, 1977, and drew its first blood from Dave Matzek an hour and 45 minutes later.

@WizardOfDocs Thank you!
@mwichary You can edit your post and add it to the picture. πŸ™‚

Smartass 1977 Dave: It's more about speed. I bet it ain't really all that sh...

@mwichary @jwz
Okay but whose blood is on the sign?
@mwichary My first thought was something about another American tool company that doesn't exist because the suits sent manufacturing to China. But it appears I may be wrong - Northfield is still making band saws and they look just like this one.
@mwichary Dave probably didn't find it as funny.
@jhooper Dave might have made that plaque.

@mwichary @jhooper I feel like Dave might have been *setting it up* and got cut on one of the parts.

(Perhaps just wrangling a new blade onto it.)

@mwichary
He didn't saw that coming.
@mwichary Dave was obviously being careless
