there are some things i've wondered about like could i run a local geographic route solver to come up with extremely cursed commute routes for fun

like openstreetmaps but "avoid all red buildings" or "only travel along adjacent power lines"

looking at open source options for things is a great way to see what things you have come to completely take for granted in ubiquitous proprietary options. like "searching by house number"

tbf i am looking at some truly ancient shit. but someone had to build it! and at one point it was enough of a support disparity that it made it into a big comparison table

OsmAnd is a stellar piece of software with about as much UI polish as you would expect from a feature-packed piece of open source software. i guess there is CoMaps now also. desktop options are sparse. most of these do route solving on-device which makes sense but is less conducive to this shitpost of an idea

@qualia OSM has tagging support for building colours, but most mappers consider it a low priority to fill in.
