I'm currently experiencing the privilege of seeing words I wrote make it into bills and potentially state statute. Is this where I become an SME after getting a 'rookie of the year' award four years ago?

I think if more folx had at least some level of involvement in the process of legislation, we would be better off for it. Legislation does not need to be performed solely by politicians.

@ai6yr We'll see if it gets passed into law. The funding part is hard. It's for a state-funded disaster infrastructure rebuild program to fill the 'gap' between an impactful event and one that leads to a federal disaster declaration (which is harder to get these days).

Our state is in a big budget hole, about $650 million, so if this gets funded, jobs and services elsewhere would need to be cut.
