Cursed idea: Implicit Association Test but it's for programmers and their reaction to fonts and color choices
@grimalkina
All fonts are wrong, but some are useful.
@cmw @grimalkina
I stopped reading CACM, partly because their typography (font and leading) was so awful.

@grimalkina

Oh...

I'm gonna get judged for my judgement...

@grimalkina if I can’t easily spot the difference between AI and Al, or ≥ and >= then I have opinions about the font in use in most contexts.

As for colours, that’s even more context sensitive.

Luckily for me my opinions are right 😉.

(If you’re using a sans serif font with “coding ligatures” and a muddy colour scheme like solarized then you’re most likely not on my Xmas card list)

@grimalkina what’s muddy to me now was a delight in the 2010s.

A benefit of my life running out like sand, and my eyes dimming, is that I finally have some insight into the difficulties of others. I am ashamed that it took me 60+ years to get there.

@MikeStok getting there at all is a beautiful thing

@grimalkina

I am pretty sure that I hate them all

@cturnbow it would be interesting to know if people have stronger negative preferences than positive prefs
@grimalkina I programmed before there was any choice of fonts or colours. I don't know if this is why I only care if I can differentiate between individual letters and that the colours don't hurt my eyes. My first terminal wasn't even content-addressable. It was bashed out of sheet metal, painted brown and cream and only wrote downwards.
