Once you realise that any stewed food with herbs is a curry you realise stoofvlees is shit food and we should be ashamed of ourselves for thinking we ever had any culture
@cratje soooo agree on the first part. Asking an indian 'what makes a curry a curry?' is like asking a european 'what is stew?', but disagree on stoofvlees being shit. I think it's cool every part of the world has their own way of making it and i looove stoofvlees, love rendang, love vindaloo, love goulash, love kareraisu, love bourguignon 🍛🍲🥘 we are all one big saucy stoofpotje 💞
@omarhobo to me it’s the slight tease with the boterham with mosterd that really finishes it: “we know spices exist but choose not to use enough”. It’s ok tasty but just not nearly as rich as a good curry 🫣
@cratje @omarhobo oh alleeee and the brown beer situation? adding stroop? good stoofvlees is hard to come by!
@stine_diana @omarhobo I didn’t want to press it too much but brown beer is the wrong choice as it’s too sweet and stroop also doesn’t help it. Most stoofvlees ends up tasting like dessert like this.
Bruine boterham, scherpe mosterd and geuze is the only way
@cratje now you just sound like a picky eater! hahaha
@stine_diana I think my point is that I sound like someone who are something else before. It’s like when you listen to punk rock as a teen and then discover slowdive’s pygmalion
@stine_diana please do quote me on that: stoofvlees is the punkrock of food
@cratje will absolutely quote you on that! auti me ate kaaskroketten once and i still eat it so regularly but it's just kaaskroketten. tastes like home and having slept well and being content about myself, more like listening to john cale on a sunday and my dad not nagging!
@stine_diana synesthetic kaaskroket is a good bandname
