I finally remembered to time how long my work laptop battery lasts doing normal work activities earlier. Reader, it did not make it even 2 hours. I'm not expecting 8 hour battery or anything but 1 hour 55 minute. I can't work like this! How am I supposed to get through grading one test for all my classes? In one sitting? I even had brightness all the way down and, I need to check if it was in power mode or battery efficient, but like come on!

Now the question is: is it the battery or is it the system? Regardless, I wanted to move my workflow to Niri or Cosmic, which have got to be better on resources compared to windows 10, right? Esp considering all the bloatware I can't remove bc company computer. Right?

How old is the laptop? Truth is old laptops are less efficient but batteries do lose performance over time

My m1 (2020) when new the battery lasted more than 12 hours. Now if it lasts 3 im lucky

no idea, I'd guess like 5 years. Before they stopped providing windows 10 systems to businesses whenever that was. I would check, but I make it a point to not bring my work laptop home unless I have to. I am unreachable in off hours and I want to keep it that way lol.

The frustrating thing is that I can't really do anything with the work laptop. They don't give us admin control, so I can't tinker with it to improve performance. And if I complain about the battery life, the solution will be "oh, here, take this new laptop with windows 11. It's got all the shiny new AI." If I have to use that as my main work laptop, I will end it right here right now. (The "it" being my job or my sanity.)
