Both U.S. Olympic hockey teams won gold. But only the men got a presidential call and celebration, while the women were met with a joke at their expense. The contrast isn’t just about sports. It’s about how respect, power, and attention are allocated in our culture. https://thinkbigpicture.substack.com/p/olympics-trump-misogyny-inequality
A Tale of Two Teams—Why Trump’s Joke Wasn't Funny

Locker room "jokes" contribute to a bigger problem with how women are treated.

The Big Picture
@georgetakei the misogyny is breathtaking

@georgetakei

When the women's team canceled, the "mens" team should have canceled out of solidarity. How can anyone call them men when they wont stand up for the rights of their mother's, wives, and daughters?

@georgetakei True, but the women also preemptively declined any invitation from him and made clear that no one from the administration was welcome at any of their victory events. So proud of them for that even more than for the Gold and numerous golds they won in the years the men didn't even come close.
@georgetakei Just read an interesting Story why the Male Hockey-Team is the one kissing the Presidents Ass (and the Woman Team is the one with Honour). Male Hockey Player mostly come out of white privileged Familys, because the Sport and Equipment is expensive. They run to school often without examin because in the Age of roundabout 16 they get Billion $ contracts for Profi-Teams. Therefore they have no knowledge of Politics and the real live. So Rich Kid Macho like Rich Orange President Macho..
@georgetakei Sorry! Your President ist Tonald Dump.?
@georgetakei
As far as I understood, the women's team was invited, but they declined. I think they were right to do so.
