Cuba’s electoral system is comprehensively democratic, the authority being fled by gusanos is the authority of the working classes enacting land redistribution, building hospitals, and freeing the slaves. Due to harsh sanctions, Cubans have much less access to foreign trade, stunting development, and in these cases many do emmigrate. However, these people don’t normally have the same hatred for socialism gusanos do.
