the smart doorbell project has stalled due to lack of power outlets

BUT i did manage to make it go ding dong from the esp32  (plugged into my laptop for power)

there MUST be a continuous ~6V inside this thing somewhere, but i am not big clive enough to figure out where
also it runs off 240V mains so I can't exactly use the bench power supply to poke at it
@olivvybee Find the low voltage DC side of the power circuit and clip your power supply directly onto that. 
@SymTrkl see that's what I thought I was doing, but I was reading no voltage, so I was clearly not in the right place
@SymTrkl (also testing it involves re-mounting the entire thing on the wall to connect it back to the mains, it's a whole Thing)
