fun stuff: the cassette mechanism on this stereo is a rotating type, and akko would expect it to have exactly the same performance on both sides..
but no, when it is playing B side (rotated to a reverse position), it sounds very much off, without any highs. wonder if all the compact bookshelf stereos are actually not good and built to a price point, or it is this specific unit is way out of alignment (or mebbe the ribbon is damaged)
and it also chewed the tape right after akko cleaned the unit :<
@kauzerei as for why rotating 180 degrees and not shifting.. imho its this way the distance between tracks will be constant, and it will only need single erase head. shifting mechanism would prolly need more adjustments..
wonder how high-end tape decks are made, mebbe 4-track heads?
What do we have here? A compact stereo system with radio, cassette player, CD player, and amplifier.
