Fantastic work from a young Hermeto Pascoal! The group was his first, recording here in the mid 60s, a few years before he formed the Quarteto Novo with Airto. The overall style is bossa jazz, but the group adds a lot of odd twists and turns, and plenty of dark edges. Hermeto plays flute and piano, and the rest of the group includes bass, drums, and trumpet. A beautifully modernist batch of bossa -- with a sound that's a delight, and mellow grooves that will have you coming back again and again. Titles include "Nana", "Louco De Saudade", "Samba Novo", "Minha Namorada", "Deixa", and "Deus Brasileiro". - Dusty Groove
