@siracusa It's weird, right? Not just the "X is bad" part, but also being able to run your own server and self-verify, controlling the message end-to-end, protecting privacy, not beholden to another company, etc. Not even as their only outlet, but at least for crossposting. Every tech company that knows about Mastodon should have their own server.
@marcintosh @siracusa As someone who works for a large tech company, I see that Marketing understands Twitter, et.al. and can use the apps/websites. If they're even _aware_ of Mastodon, self-hosting a Mastodon server becomes •A PROJECT,• coordinated with IT for server space, DNS, eng hours. But who's budget does it come out of? For not just install but ongoing maintenance and patching? (That said, there's nothing stopping them from creating an account on The Big Instance to migrate later.)
