Bought an NVMe SSD because I had no other choice. Fucking hell that stung.
It was three times the price I would've paid six months ago.
@gsuberland I curse myself as well not buying more 3 months ago
@gsuberland yeah I'm very glad I don't have any immediate requirements for new hardware, and I've even got some old kit lying about that can be pressed into service in an emergency!

@raesene I priced up a new NAS the other day and the RAM alone would currently cost me almost five grand.

yeaaaahno

@gsuberland @raesene I was planning a server upgrade for some point this year. Bet even second-hand DDR4 will be vastly overpriced - I haven't dared to look.
@lunarloony @raesene from what I saw on eBay, second hand is currently not much of a saving. in some cases it's selling for more than the current retail price, I presume simply because retailers are implementing per-buyer limits (Scan won't let me buy more than 2 sticks of anything right now) whereas the eBay sellers aren't.
@gsuberland Three times? Which one did you buy? It wasn't that bad when I bought mine recently.
@agowa338 Crucial something or other, 1TB. 6mo ago it was available on offer for £49, now it's £140.
@gsuberland @agowa338 yeah IDK what I am going to do when my small supply runs out, I grabbed couple when prices just started going up. Really bummed Crucial is out of consumer market now, always what I bought for storage and memory.
