Firefox 148 introduces the promised AI kill switch for people who aren't into LLMs - Lemmy.ca

Lemmy

Remember when they had a “kill switch” for javascript?
It’s available as an extension: webextension.org/listing/javascript-toggler.html
Javascript Toggle On and Off

The 'JavaScript Toggle On and Off' extension employs a reliable approach to disable JavaScript execution in the entire browser. You can turn JavaScript on or off by clicking the extension's action button. JavaScript is blocked in regular and private (incognito) modes when the extension is active. To temporarily allow JavaScript, click the action button again. You can include the current website in the exception list, regardless of whether JavaScript is enabled or disabled. The sites in the exception list will not adhere to the global JavaScript-enabled or disabled state. This extension uses the browser's internal preference to disable JavaScript, ensuring compatibility with all JavaScript executions, such as inside iframes or inline methods.

Yeah. Used to be native. Like the slop kill switch currently is. Then won’t be.
For years and years I’ve been using this extension: addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/…/yesscript2/
YesScript2 – Get this Extension for 🦊 Firefox (en-US)

Download YesScript2 for Firefox. It marks the domain of the active tab untrusted, reloads the page and blocks scripts from running on it. An option for the user to stop a website eating up resources or doing malicious things even if it breaks the functionality of the page.
