At first, it seems that we’re on the right track, with many platforms claiming end-to-end encryption and even post-quantum computer safety. But, when we dig deeper, we uncover many implementation issues—such as interoperability and plaintext backups—as well as deeper structural issues that can cause the whole system to fall apart and regress to no encryption at all.
