New York City police investigating after officers were hit with snowballs during a snowball fight - sh.itjust.works

New York City police are investigating after officers were pelted with snowballs while responding to a massive snowball fight at Washington Square Park in Manhattan. A video of the fracas shows two uniformed officers pacing a walkway in the park Monday as snowballs fly at them from all directions, hitting the officers and covering them in snow. The officers, growing visibly frustrated, shoved at least two people to the ground as snowballs continued to whizz by. At one point, a person runs up behind an officer and mushes some snow onto his head. One of the officers can be seen rubbing his eye toward the end of the video. In a statement Tuesday, the New York Police Department said multiple uniformed officers were struck in the face with snowballs and were “removed by EMS in stable condition” to a nearby hospital, but did not disclose additional information on their injuries.

There used to be cops who knew how to deal with people on a human level.
Then 9/11/2001 happened and every cop in America was told that they were the front line of the War On Terror.

Basic common sense was replaced by The Punisher mind set.

Pre 9/11 cops would have looked, reported that it was just a snowball fight and walked away. There idiots had to be tough guys.

Police officers in any other Nordic country likely would have joined in when they saw that all is fine and it’s just a snowball fight

I live in NYC.

Some idiot would see the cops throwing snowballs and put a rock in theirs.

You spelled genius wrong

Learn some history.

Back in the day, when the Industrial Workers of the World did any action they had a squad that made sure no one threw rocks at the police. The IWW leadership knew that one cop with a bruise meant a few dozen innocent marchers with broken bones.

If starting trouble for other people makes you a ‘genius’ than Donald Trump deserves a Nobel Prize for Science.

Good point, I stand corrected
Thank you

I don’t like the phrase “thank you” because it’s manners, but it has a pronoun inside. And so it puts Me in a really socially awkward position. And it’s a position most people wouldn’t understand. If someone has second person neopronouns, then “thank you” makes a person feel bad, while having really good intentions behind it, so if you complain or correct, it’s really rude and it feels bad to do so. I try to avoid manners that have pronouns inside when I’m talking to strangers, but it would be unreasonable of Me to expect the same from most people. I like “thanks”. But “thank you” makes Me feel bad, AND conflicted. It’s the most annoying manners.

I was watching a clip of Gene Kelly doing a dance on roller skates yesterday. Absolutely incredible dancing on wheels. In the middle of the routine he does a stupid ‘Chinaman’ impression for absolutely no reason.

I had a choice. Stop watching, or accept that social norms change slowly.

There’s a problem with “you”?
It’s just not one of My preferred pronouns
As a trans ally, your post was one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever read. As I have never heard someone complain about “you” before, I provided the opportunity to explain why it might be problematic. If you were sincere and not using this as a method to mock trans people you would have taken the opportunity to explain why “you” is problematic. Instead, you took a paragraph to state you did not like “Thank you” but refused to elaborate any further when asked.
would you prefer y’all? i can try to remember that
Personally I use capitalised pronouns. And thanks.
We’ll admit that’s new to us, but we can get used to it. o7
Thank y’all

I don’t like the phrase “thank you”

That’s why you started this post with “thank you”?

Discussing People who reject challenging ideas as stupid without engagement are like intellectual nepobabies

MULTIVERSE is a threaded, federated forum for anarcho-antirealists. The UI might remind you of Reddit, and we're connected to dozens of other sites run by different people with different values. But if you came here, you're probably an anarchist with a distaste for "objective" reality, and I promise that this site is a safe space for you. **Rule 1: No Bigotry.** In addition to the usual bigotries, we do not appreciate kinphobia, pluralphobia, sysmedicalism, transmedicalism, denigration of xenogenders & neopronouns, fatphobia, or invalidation of fictives and fictionkin. **Rule 2: Limited Authoritarianism.** Asking questions and good faith debate is encouraged, but we do not allow staunch support for the belief in an objective reality, or other authoritarian viewpoints. Debate tactics optimised to exhaust and intimidate our users (sometimes known as 'sealioning') will be removed. **Rule 3: Restricted Violence.** Attacks against our users and vulnerable groups including threats, directed triggering, harassment, stalking, and doxxing are not allowed. Brigading, calls for revolution, and support for anarchic elements do not fall within this rule and are not considered problematic. **Rule 4: Moderator Accountability.** Site admins and staff, and community moderators, are held to a higher standard than ordinary users in proportion with the powers they wield. Moderators are expected to be fair and patient, to explain to rulebreakers how to do better, and to choose reasonable ban durations that permit the possibility of rehabilitation and reintegration.
