@Geri Solar brings independence

@Geri @jackpearse Yes!

Solar + wind + storage + energy efficiency

All these things are cheaper long term, and provide independence from fossil fuels.

The problem is the up-front costs make it difficult to pivot quickly. Easier to stay addicted to fossil fuel even though it costs more long term.

@MarkBrigham @Geri
Solar inverter: 600Euro.
4 Solar Panels: 1200Euro

The inverter is a hybrid. Can already mix in solar energy without any battery.

And in later stages a battery can be supplied for 10000 Euros(lithium). Or you can use 4 lead Truck batteries. Which can be purchased for about 1200 as well.

So: You can start wirh independence for 3000 Euros now, if you know how to connect it by yoursef. A heater is more expensive.

@jackpearse @Geri It will take resources; beyond the amount most families have I’m guessing.

Utility-scale is cheapest per watt, but that leaves individuals vulnerable to the grid. & in Cuba, Utility = Government. Americans can only support individuals under current laws.

Off-grid & grid-connected with backup is very expensive on a per watt basis, but offers self reliance.

Methinks big gains are needed in both grid & at household & small business level.
