Did Cory Doctorow ever address the widespread criticism he got for his defense of LLMs and denigrating those who disagreed as infected with “purity culture”?
@drahardja Does, “Posting a lot of logical fallacies on Mastodon,” count as addressing the criticism? Because he sure did a lot of that

@drahardja you are confusing me with this post. I read Cory's posts frequently and he's quite critical.

Please share the sources, I'm curious to know when and where he defended LLMs.

I ran my notes through an LLM, and the result is oriented the way I was feeling, Cory's quite critical about it:
> 3 entries from Pluralistic that touch on AI/LLMs. The overall stance is overwhelmingly critical, with only modest positive concessions.

@jcaron First, please don’t send me LLM output to read; it’s insulting. I’m interested in human communication, not machine spew. If you send me LLM output again in lieu of an actual conversation, I will block you.

Second, I gave you the phrase to search for in quotes: “purity culture”. Please use a search engine to find out more. The first hits of “doctorow purity culture” in Mastodon search will get you pretty much the information you need.

I don’t mean to sound harsh, but I think it’s appropriate to push back on this trend of people using LLMs to make their arguments for them. It’s insulting to the reader to make them waste time reading something the poster didn’t write.
