I'm not up to reading but can veg in front of videos or listen to podcasts. Can someone offer a good explanation of the fabled 'Atlas network' which has our Government in its thrall? This ABC article would be great if it were audio or video.

A discreet intellectual network has been reshaping the world for 70 years. Here's how

A constant battle of ideas reshapes the world we live in, and few groups have been more successful in winning the war than the little-known Atlas Network.

@Niall Just read the article, and the abridged takeaway is: rich people figured out that if you fake "research", you can make media talk about it until your terrible idea sounds respectable, and then politicians can use you as cover for doing the terrible thing.
@anyGould thanks. So it's the same old same old FUD. Fear Uncertainty Denial.
@Niall Possibly a more refined/outsourced version - while you might not believe me, CEO of EvilCo, that I should be allowed to grind up baby puppies to power my factory, you can't deny that the media is all about these new studies showing how much more environmentally friendly puppy-grinding, and this other study about how the country needs puppy-grinding for national security... and now politicians are getting asked about why they're so oldfashioned, etc etc.
