The vast trove of documents released by the #DOJ from its investigations into the #convicted #SexOffender #JeffreyEpstein failed to include some key materials related to a woman who made an accusation against #Trump, acc/to a review by NYT.

The materials are #FBI memos summarizing interviews the bureau did in connection to claims made in 2019 by a woman who came forward after Epstein’s arrest to say she had been sexually assaulted by both Trump & #Epstein decades earlier, when she was a #minor.

The existence of the memos was revealed in an index listing the investigative materials related to her account, which was publicly released. Acc/to that index, the #FBI conducted 4 interviews in connection with her claims & wrote summaries about each one. But only 1 summary of the 4 interviews, which describes her accusations against #Epstein, was released by the #DOJ. The other 3 are missing.

The public files also do NOT include the underlying #interview notes, which the index also indicates are part of the file. The #DOJ released similar interview notes in connection to #FBI interviews with other potential witnesses & survivors.

It is unclear why the materials are missing. 🤨

Under the #law, the #DOJ can redact material that could be used to identify Epstein’s victims, depicted violence or child sexual abuse, or would hurt a continuing federal investigation. But the law expressly prohibited federal officials from withholding or redacting materials “on the basis of embarrassment, reputational harm or political sensitivity” to public figures.

Some lawmakers and survivors of Mr. Epstein’s abuse have strongly condemned the #DOJ for how it handled redactions, noting that details identifying some survivors were left exposed & nude photographs of young women were included in the public release, while material related to claims of abuse by other men had been heavily redacted.

@Nonilex It's stunning to me -- and to most of the rest of the world, I'm sure -- that the same people in charge of prosecuting demonstrable pedophiles are also *the same people* who are protecting pedophiles entirely because of how much power said pedophiles currently have.

Pedophile caught in public office: "Now look, we don't want to make any hasty decisions here, so we're just going to hide all their names for now -- esepcially that one who's mentioned in there A LOT -- and maybe just remove these interview tapes from all the victims, because we of course don't want their reputations put at risk as we look further into the issue or more likely never do. No further questions, let's move on."
