This current phase of US fascism was 50 yrs in the planning.

Up till the 1970s, US oligarchs had tolerated some democracy, but the 1960s had screamed "guillotines!"

What Powell & Rockefeller called a dangerous "excess of democracy" had to be dismantled.

They started with higher education & the media, then the courts.

@DrALJONES I've been telling people about the Powell Manifesto for the better part of 25 years, and some folks think I'm a conspiracy theorist who should be visited by nice men with butterfly nets. The lack of American news coverage about the fascists here playing the long game is on par with the devil's greatest trick in how he convinces everyone he doesn't exist. No news stories = no fascism. Correctly stating there has been a fascist plot for years sounds guano crazy to the ignorant normies.

@DrALJONES the "strategy against liberalism", which was really a strategy against leftists, authorred by Mr Powell, is one of the primary reasons we are in the fascist hellhole we are today.

This impulse (to take over the US government by force, create a dictatorship for businesses) was in play since at least 120 years, with the Business Plot attempting to outright take it in the early 19th century.

Capitalism RELIABLY leads to outcomes like this.

Yes, agree. My point here was to identify the origin of this particular phase of US fascism, namely, the oligarchs' fear reaction to the democratic flowering of the 1960s.
