Whatever happened to the old-style food processors? The processor, pictured, is a Braun Multipractic 9 Deluxe Type 4259. It has the control and motor on the left, with the processing bowl on the right. This style of food processor doesn't seem to exist any more. Shame, I was wanting to buy one.

The modern-style has a vertical arrangement, with the bowl on top and the motor & controls below. My presumption is that many people have space constraints, so a vertical arrangement is more convenient.

@fitheach We bought a Kenwood with that arrangement just a few months back.

Was it a "compact" or "mini" version? For some reason* compact and mini food processors are still available in the classic arrangement. I've got one myself. I'm wanting a much larger model that might be able to rice a large cauliflower in a oner.

* It might be that a smaller processor in a vertical arrangement wouldn't be stable.

@fitheach It's not mini, and I don't recall "compact" in any wording, and it depends on the size of the cauliflower, but it sounds as though you're after an industrial one.

What's the model number of your Kenwood?

I used to have a Braun (domestic one) that could do a whole cauliflower in a oner. My ex got to keep it. 😃
