the cheap store-brand SAE hex wrench tool has metric bolts which is 1) hilarious to me and 2) a good fuckin thing because otherwise I was not gonna get the plastic label out because I only have - or had - metric hex wrenches and it's not like I can use it on itself xD

That might be intentional. I've got a nearly identical pair. Probably mass produced then stamped with branding for different stores. I'd have to dig them up to double check but, last time I tightened them up, I'm pretty sure the SAE had one that fit the Metric and vice versa. Pretty clever, at least if I'm remembering right.

I have those, and ran into EXACTLY that problem! The screw came loose and it couldn't tighten itself!

I'm in the midst of a cross-country move and everything's in boxes, else I'm sure I could find an alternative, but for now I was just left staring at it dumbly.
