I have an interview soon that's supposed to be about "finding Planet 9 with the Vera Rubin Observatory", and I'm going to see if I can hijack it into an interview about satellite pollution instead.

I'm quite convinced that there is not another giant 10x Earth-mass planet out there waiting to be discovered, but there's a super interesting story written into the orbits of distant TNOs, waiting to be uncovered about our solar system's history, and it's going to get obliterated by satellite streaks

@sundogplanets I can see throwing all sorts of shade -- "while Plan 9 From Outer Space is unlikely to exist, if it did we're currently so impacted by satellite light pollution that we'd be unable to see it" or "if Plan 9 *did* exist we would need XXX thousand of them to have the same amount of light than just one of the tens of thousands of LEO satellites currently rendering ground based telescopes less and less useful"

@wordshaper @sundogplanets The reference to "Plan 9 from Outer Space" reminds me of the time I took some relatives to the Metropolitan Opera as a Christmas present. Rudy Giuliani was a few feet ahead of us. During the intermission, he stayed in his place along with his (now former) wife who had a stern expression and was dressed in black. The first thing that popped into my head was "Vampira".
