@wood Similar with government contracting stuff, at least on the engineering side. I know an engineer at [redacted] that has to keep reinventing the wheel occasionally for [Actually Classified] because management couldn't get their heads out of their short-sighted asses. (They can't tell me any of the details, for obvious reasons, but they've vented to me many times about management (and the parts of the government they interact with) having their heads quite firmly up their ass when writing specifications...)
([redacted] isn't my employer, I wouldn't go near that stuff with a hazmat suit and a barge pole; I'll stick to my rather boring corporate drone position in an uncontroversial and uninteresting field, thank you very much. Boring is at least predictable, and that matters to me)
